The Music of Maség (2014)

Maség is a contemporary and folkloric dance production funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and commissioned by Kularts. It re-imagines the familiar William Shakespeare classic, The Tempest, and set in pre-colonial Philippine island of Palawan. Choreographed by master artist Jay Loyola and directed by Alleluia Panis, it premiered in San Francisco in November 2014.

Florante Aguilar steps out of his usual style to create an original music score that uses indigenous instruments based on local traditional forms, mixed with contemporary elements.
