Sammay is a recent graduate of UC Berkeley and an alumna of Main Stacks Competitive Dance Team. Sammay is also known as the host of the Dance for Canswer workshop series. Her most recent performance credits include the role of Mercy in “Embark,” the Beholder of Light in “Turangawaewae,” and Amanda Ladensack in “Searching for Garland Jackson.”
Having trained in Polynesian, modern, musical theatre, Hip Hop, contemporary, African diaspora, and urban dance—Sammay has been a young builder for the Bay Area urban dance community and extends her advocacy for cross-cultural understanding and making progressive social impact through the arts. Sammay holds a B.A. in Media Studies and Sociology, has two minors in Dance and Performance Studies and Global Poverty and Practice. She is teaching Hip Hop Dance at Spotlight Arts Academy of Dance and Music, is facilitating the writing process for UCB PAA’s Pilipin@ Cultural Night, and is pushing for the prioritization of cultural arts and inclusion of indigenous practices in contemporary society.
